Ready when you are.
FIGS partnered with Industry to create a dramatic film for their FIGS EXTREMES line by staging an F1 crash that highlights the bravery of healthcare workers in high-risk situations. With a tight budget, the industrial design team built a realistic F1 car and combined live-action with detailed 3D effects to bring the powerful story to life.

My Role
Team

How were we going to pull off a realistic F1 crash on a shoestring budget? We designed an F1 body and printed it in studio, piece by piece. This cart-sized puzzle was assembled on a wooden chassis over many painstaking, near all-nighters, and we couldn’t be more proud of the results. In fact, the completed model lives in a place of honor in the Industry studio as a testament to thrifty thinking and the brave (and sleepy) artists who made it happen.

Assembly

The model was split into printable parts and assembled using a custom pin system.

Each piece was sanded, patched with Bondo, and reinforced with fiberglass for strength.
Final touches

We designed custom vinyl wraps, applied them, and brought the finished car to set.
